Overview

George currently serves as the in-house legal counsel for Mitchell Cotts Group, a leading regional end-to-end logistics company with operations across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan. In this role, he provides strategic legal guidance on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters within the logistics and transportation sector.

At KKN Law LLP, George provides legal support on an advisory and consultancy basis, primarily focusing on corporate and commercial law matters. He possesses in-depth technical expertise in the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements, structuring joint ventures and strategic partnerships, legal and tax advisory, dispute resolution, and overall legal risk management.

George has also handled complex secured finance, alternative finance, bilateral and multilateral finance transactions, as well as tax advisory and compliance matters, including cross-border tax planning and transaction structuring. His experience further extends to legal drafting, conducting legal due diligence, and advising on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, with a strong focus on delivering practical and business-enabling legal solutions.

  • Led the end-to-end legal, risk and compliance function for a regional logistics company operating across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, covering ESG, data protection and regulatory engagement
  • Advised multinational lenders, DFIs and private investors on secured finance and alternative lending structures in complex cross-border transactions
  • Conducted legal and tax due diligence on mergers, acquisitions, private equity investments, and corporate restructures across multiple East African jurisdictions at Bowmans Kenya
  • Managed regulatory compliance with KRA, KAA, KPA, KEBS and equivalent regional authorities, integrating sustainability and ESG frameworks into corporate governance
  • Negotiated and drafted commercial agreements, financing documents and investment instruments for multinational corporations, lenders and private equity investors across East Africa
  • Provided tax advisory services on cross-border tax planning, customs matters and corporate transactions, advising on both direct and indirect tax issues across multiple East African jurisdictions
